Brunello di Montalcino 2012

Aromas of blackcurrants, berries and chocolate. Remains subtle and perfumed. Full body, lots of fruit and chocolate character and a hint of vanilla. Fascinating young Brunello that needs two or three years to come togheter. Better in 2020.

A rich and velvety Brunello with cherry, dark-chocolate and walnut character. Full body, chewy tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Needs two or three years to soften. Yet delicious now.

Grilled herb, forest floor, ripe plum and leather aromas take shape in the glass. The brawny concentrated palate doles out ripe dark berry, tobacco licorice and a hint of orange zest while firm, velvety tannins give the finish texture and grip. Drink 2020 - 2030.

Here's an authentic taste of Tuscany that pair with steak smothered in white peppercorn sauce. The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino "Poggio al aCarro" shows its undisputed food-friendliness thanks to sharp acidity and a steely, streamlined approach. Aromas of white cherry and wild berry are secondary to the decisive nature of the mouthfeel. This wine should age well over the next 10 years more.

The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino does s very nice job of portraying the Sangiovese grape. There is a level of freshness and fruity brightness here that you might not expect from such a warm growing season. The bouquet offers focus and purity with blue flower, cassis, spice and a savory touch of cured meat. The wine is aged in large oak barrel for 36 months. Celestino Pecci is a relatively new name in Montalcino, but one worth seeking out.

Celestino Pecci 2011 Brunello di Montalcino: a soft and juicy red with dried strawberry and cherry aromas and flavors. Full body, round tannins and a clean finish. Needs time to come together but impressive density of fruit for the vintage. Better in 2018.

Celestino Pecci 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Concentrated mid ruby with bright orange rim.
Austere, peppery nose of cherry, dark earth and graphite. Juicy fruit with the typical Sangiovese tanginess and a spurt of stalky tannins on the finish. Austere yet fragrant and certainly deserves more bottle age. (WS) 14.5% Drink 2015-2024

A soft and silky red with plum and berry character and hints of spices. An almost lavendar and berry undertone. Full to medium body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Drink or hold.
Celestino Pecci's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is a surprise hit from a wonderful vintage. I had never previously tasted the wines fron this estate and was delighted to encounter a wine with such sharp definition and intensity. The generous bouquet is redolent of pressed roses, dark fuit, tobacco, spice and leather. The aromas are well stitched togheter to form a tight vinous fabric. That impression is carried forward to the mouth where polished tannins give the wine a firm sense of grip over the palate. Fresh acidity keeps it lively and crisp.

The smoke, floral and sweet cherry aromas and flavors are offset by a vibrant structure in this energetic red. Firm tannins chore up the finish. This shows fine potential for aging. Best from 2016 through 2033.

What a beautiful nose of dried flowers, dark fruits and sandalwood. Full body, with velvety tannins, ripe fruit and a pretty finish. All in richness and finesse. Tannic still. New producer to watch. Best after 2013. Made from organic grapes.
